I am considering the the purchase of a used Beretta Silver Snipe 20 gauge. It has 28" barrels and the seller says it is choked Full and Imp. Mod. For this particular shotgun to be much use to me, I would want screw in chokes. Is it possible to add/convert the barrels from fixed chokes to screw-in Beretta tubes?

How much would something like that cost? Would it really hurt the future value of the shotgun? Who could do such work?

I'm just shooting off the cuff here, but absolutely, you could have the barrels back-bored and internal choke tubes installed. You would probably be looking at $200 plus the chokes, but it would provide whatever versatility you desire.

At worst on resale, you would not lose anything other than than the additions you made to the gun.

If you like the gun and want to taylor it to your needs, why not? Enjoy the moment, life's short.

I doubt it that you could get it cut to take Beretta Tubes but there is a system called the Teague choke system that can be used in such a case. Not sure if it is available to you in the states though.

I do not know of anyone with the Beretta tooling (other than the factory installations).

If the barrel wall thickness allows I can install Tru-Choke tubes. Same flush mounted screw-in / interchangeable tube technology, just a different thread pattern than Beretta.

A quick check for adequate wall thickness involves measuring the OD at the muzzle with a micrometer or caliper; if it’s over .705†you are good to go.
