GeorgeSRemington V3 vs. 11-87
An acquaintance asked about a "soft-shooting" autoloader.
Which of the above would have the softest recoil impulse given 3" waterfowl loads and 2 3/4" upland loads?
Thanks

BobsterI test fire both frequently. The V3 is definitely softer IMHO.

GeorgeSThank you.
Does the V3 feel heavy between the hands?

Well...That's surprising to me.
In simple wood stocked 12 gauge models
The V3 weighs 7-1/4 lbs
The 1187 weighs 8-1/4 lbs
One would think the heavier 1187 would have the lighter felt recoil.

GeorgeSRay,
Supposedly, the Versa-Max gas system in the V3 results in less recoil.

BobsterNo not heavy but broad. It is thicker due to the bulk of the side saddle gas system. The gun is actually lighter than an 11-87 but apparently the stock design and gas system mitigate felt recoil to me. Can't vouch for others.
Stock design can be a big deal and can trump weight. I once test fired a Griffin and Howe 1903 Springfield sporter in .25-06. It weighed near 10 lbs with scope but would kick your eyeballs into next week.
