BamabowNumbered Beretta
Yesterday I purchased a Beretta 686 Quail Unlimited. A 20GA over and under. When I opened the box at the store I was shocked to discover that the gun was numbered "1 of 750" on the reciever. I purchased the gun to hunt with and I fully intend to do so. I am not a collector. I buy guns as tools for the task. Should I have any undue concern about handeling / maintenence/ value? I almost hate that this thing is numbered. What are your thoughts. Thanks.

Bill MHello Bamabow,
I think all 750 say "1 of 750", which of course is true....
I think I hear it now, all the way up in St. Louis - "Take me hunting!..."
Good shooting,
Bill

BamabowBill, you are correct. All of these guns are so numbered. I can now use it as a canoe paddle if the situation dictates. Thanks.

A canoe paddle

?!!!
I had just looked through the 2003 Beretta catalog Thursday night, and noticed the write-up on the Covey Quail models - that they were numbered "1 of 750"

.
I would think that they should be somewhat more desirable than the equivalent "regular" model, but if it were mine, that would not be enough to keep it in the safe....

Quail WingI have a 401 Beretta that is over 80 years old. It is in great shape. It has custom engraving, external hammers, 100% of the orginal case coloring, the list goes on. It is valued less than a new Beretta Silver Pigeon. In the states at least, Beretta is simply not seen as a collectable gun, except for some very high end examples.
I would forget the hype and take it hunting.

BamabowBill and Pete, I concur. I'll find out how she handles on covey rises this afternoon. Thanks for your input. Good hunting.
