C.WathenDevice on browning shotguns
I was at a gunshow a little while ago and saw a browning shotgun with some sort of device on the end of the barrel. I am very unfamilar with browning shotguns, what is this device. It looked like it was a older shotgun. Is it some sort of adjustable choke. It had vents in it, kinda looked like a flash hider.

JcchartboyAre you certain it was a shotgun?
What you are describing is identical to the Browning "Boss" system used on their rifles.

adrookIt's called a Polychoke. It is an adjustable choke that was quite popular before the days of screw-in choke tubes. They were made by the Polychoke Company of Hartford, CT and were available both as a factory offering on some guns and as an aftermarket gunsmith installed add-on for about any shotgun. I have an old Model 12 that is equipped with one, it works very well.

Kyler HamannAndy is probably right, it's most likely a Polychoke. But a Cutts Compensator looks a little like that too, but isn't adjustable. We still have some old timer skeet shooters in our club that show up with Cutts on some of their guns. BOY, are they loud. Makes modern porting seem really mild.
