308SakoFinally, peace and quiet
Brand new at this end of shooting. I can't loose any more hearing so... Class three has arrived.
AAC SPR-M4, and Cyclone
SPR M4 as shown on 16"
First three rounds .308 Win suppressed... I'm pleased. Aiming point was the little box to the immediate left.
Nice of them to tell you which end is the front! How well does it work?
Peter.

308SakoPeter, The Cyclone is just amazing to me as I can fire the rifle without hearing protection and do not get the ringing. It is like someone clapping their hands in a loud manner. The SPR M4 is like firing a recoiling pellet rifle, and also quite quiet, but I do use my sponge plugs.
I am very pleased with these units and their performance. I am sure I have a lot more to learn about them however.
Is that silencer legal in all 50 states? I apologize for the lack of any knowledge regarding suppressors. Are they only illegal for handguns?
Silencers are legal in AL, AR, AK, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MO (with C&R), MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY. They may be owned by Class 3 dealers and Class 2 manufacturers (but not individuals) in: CA, IA, MA, and MI.
There is a $200 tax to be paid to the ATF for each one made or bought by an unlicensed person, but it is a routine matter.

djsjrHow does one become a Class 3? I live in Michigan and need a class 3 to use silencers. Is there a website that walks one through the steps to get the class 3? Any direction would be welcomed.

ranb40You write to the ATF
http://www.atf.gov/forms/firearms/ and obtain the Federal Firearms License application and pay the Special Occupational Tax. The FFL fee is $200/3 years and the SOT is a minimum of $500/year.
http://www.subguns.com is a good source of info for those who want to become a licensed dealer or manufacturer. A class 2 manufacturer also pays the yearly ITAR of $2250.
