the older (pre 1905) mauser rifles were chambered in a .312 diameter bullet. after 1905, is when the Germans introduced the current .323 diameter bullet. many rifles were rechambered or rebarreled in the new 323. if you ever see any 8x57 bullets marked 8x57J, it is .312. if it is marked 8x57JS, it is the .323. hope this hepls you out

with the 154 grain bullet, it probally is a turk bullet, the German bullets were heavier, around 220 grain.

shit you're right. see what happens when you drink and type, and listen to the old lady talking at the same time? the old 8mm mauser bullet is .318. could it be a .303 british? weren't they .311 diameter? could you possibly be off a thousandth? i apologize, i just get stuff mixed up sometimes.
