older shotgun shell value?
A friend has a few boxes of 20 guage shells. One is a box of Peters "new plastic" and a full box of western paper hull shells with some discoloration of the brass, and the boxes are in fair shape. SHould a person try to sell them or are they just shooters? He offered them to me as I shoot a 20, but I thought they might be worth something to a collector. He also has some 1960's era? .244's in original boxes.

The shotgun shells have no collector value. If the rifle ammo is indeed 244 Remington it will date to the late 50s or early 60s and will have some collector value in the original boxes. Remington switched the name to 6mm Remington in 1963. You'd have to find some way to locate an interested buyer - one of the internet auction houses would be best.

Shoot the 20s with a clear conscience. The .244 have some premium as a collectible; the better the condition of the packaging, the more the premium. But don't plan on anything approaching a bonanza.
