Looking for information/dimensional data on the ever-popular 45/100 Van Choat. A 45/75 Van Choat (aka 45/70 VC) is also known to exist.

I have a combination gun by W&C Scott & Son, C. 1874, with the rifle side in 45/100 Van Choat (77grns powder, as engraved on the barrel), and would like an original example, OR dimensioned drawings of same.

Have futzed with the rifle side of my combination gun after casting the chamber, and made up rounds for preliminary fireforming/ testing. 75grs of 1 1/2F(OE), compressed .150 with (2).06" fiber wads behind a PP 450gr bullet, shoot to the sights at 50 yds. I had some 480gr bullets left over from a Gibbs project and shot those as well; about 1/3 went thru the target sideways.

Haven't been able to explain why a (supposed) 45/100 cartridge will only hold 75-78grs of 1 1/2F. Current brass is about 1/16" short of the end of the chamber--there's no way the additional length would allow 100 grs to be used. Anyone have an explanation?
