7.63 mm auto pistol
A friend has a pistol chambered for this cartridge.
I am interested to know more about it, and also if any are available for him.
He tells me it is a bottleneck cartridge.
Thanks

Tony WilliamsThe cartridge was developed for the old C96 "Broomhandle" Mauser pistol, one of the first practical auto pistols which was famously used by Winston Churchill in a cavalry charge in N Africa around the turn of the century.
The Soviets used the round in the Tokarev pistol and also all of their WW2 submachine guns (PPSh etc). I think that the Tokarev loadings were hotter than the Mauser.

forumNOOOOO, 7.63 Mauser is different form 7.62Toklarev. For the first, there is slight difference in case length and for the second, CIP maximum pressure for 7.63M is 2600bar and for 7.62TT 2900 bar. You could shoot 7.63 in 7.62TT pistol (if it will cycle) but shooting modern 7.62TT in 7.63 pistol will destroy your old gun (I seen one with open barrel) !!!
Fiocchi still made 7.63Mauser ammo for your old pistol . . .

Thanks Jiri, You were right on the mark. I will order from Fiocchi.
