This is just an idea Im playing with, so thought someone here may have an idea worth thinking about.

Im looking at ways to raise some capital on my farm, and right now in our media are reports of a massive upsurge in Americans applying for visas or immigration. Probably due to our perceived isolation from Covid.
Id like to explore offering sale or lease of a house section/lifestlye block for people looking for a bolt hole or holiday home. On the basis that its a fantastic area close to airport that offers pretty great hunting and fishing, secure food and water supplies, ability to grow own gardens etc, and there is an infrastructure (Me) who can monitor property and maintain it etc while not in use.
If I went down this path further, where would be the best place to advertise or look for customers?
Cheers

Is it easy for outsiders to immigrate to NZ?

There are lots of real estate type websites on the net which would probably be your best bet for advertising your properties or related services.

One I know of, Zillow, is popular in the US. I have never looked to see if it carries listings in other countries.

Immigrating to New Zealand was very popular in the 1990's for awhile and lots of Russians took advantage of it. Because of the inflow, the requirements have become more restrictive. Starting in 2007 the immigration laws really began to tightening it down to a trickle.

But basically you need at least $350,000 USD in the country, purchase a property over a certain amount (I forget what it is), and it is helpful if you're under 55 and can open a business and provide work for the locals - I think the number was 14 or more full time positions. But with any immigration system, there are backdoors where you basically buy your way in and that can be $1.5 million or more. I am sure like many attractive countries, there are specialists who do all the legwork for you and can line everything up.

Tourist visas are nine months over a 18 month period. So for shankspony's concept, nine months is attractive. Unfortunately at the moment, NZ is locked down to CV-19 and there is talk this could continue for quite some time. So access will be a PIA.

Shankspony - There are plenty of websites that advertise vacation homes. That would be the best place to start.

Having fished a lot of the country, I was seriously considering NZ in the 1990's.

I have a friend in South Austin that has rental property as well as extra rooms in her home that she rents out during musical events (or did, before all this started) She is on a worldwide network that rents to folks that are going to any specific area + are in the 'club'. This seems to be a global thing. But as I said, due to current circumstances, this might not be a viable option.

Never mistake motion for action.
