Ann, several years ago when I was still a novice + after taking the frozen tomatoes out of the freezer + put them in the warm water to thaw, I noticed that the skin just came right off, + I marveled at MY new discovery. When I mentioned my find to my mother-in-law (another canner) she just gave me a look like "are you really that stupid" Hell, I don't mind, we all have to learn sometime. One of my old favorites from the Peanuts strip was Lucy + Linus + whatever Linus said, Lucy replied, that that was just an old wives tale. To which Linus replied, "Some of those old wives were pretty smart, you know."

LOL, nothing like a good stinkeye. I use a food mill to skin and seed my tomatoes for making sauce. It's just a hand crank but sure makes easy work out of the process.
I've got half the garden planted now. Potatoes are up already.
