reddy375Panthers (that's what Leopards are called in India), love to eat dogs. We lost couple of our dogs to leopards as well!

NakihunterAmazing stuff. this is so coomon around Mumbai & particularly around Borivillie National Park where leopards take children regularly.
Bannargatta national Park near Bangalore also has a problem with leopards taking dogs from houses.

Saeed,
You would get into a lot of trouble with the forest department, after the long drawn court case, one would probably end up in prison since leopard is protected under schedule 1 of wildlife act.
Several of our neighbours dogs have been taken around our property which is within the municipal limits of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan state.

376 steyrThat dog must have been sleeping to be caught so easily. It's like the cat just walked up to him an got it by the head or neck without a chase or struggle.

ShukareeI grew up in an area 20 minutes away from the Sanjay Gandhi National Park(Borivali). All thru my school days i would get into trouble for staring at the hills of the National Park, visible from the upper floors. For me the allure of those hills was like a physical/tangible thing. The next day of finishing school, i was granted new responsibilities and priviliges. To my complete surprise and delight i was free to go where i wanted just as long as i came home in time and my chores were all done. There began a love affair with the park that still endures. We saw numerous signs of leopard predation, pug marks, scratches, hair, scat, etc. On one of our crazy night forays we were growled at twice, once on a track and once just outside the window of the bungalow we were in.
I once got to touch a caged leopard called 'Sonu' thru the chainlink mesh,Sonu was raised by the forest officers great dane bitch and was used to people till he got big, and then they put the poor bastard in an enclosure.
Beneath the skin of his neck, the muscle was hard, no give whatsoever, i will never forget the impression of strength i got from that touch.People that work in and around the park regularly see Leopards, high rises on the boundary regularly have dogs taken. The lucky ones have scars.
In the tail end of the video the dogs neck was broken, it no longer struggled.

RockdocGreat pics, thanks.
I have seen a black leopard in East kalimantan (Borneo) where they call them Panther, or just plain Cat! I was a little shocked as i didn't know they were in kalimantan. Was late morning in the mountains.
Amazing to live amongst such great predators.
Cheers, Chris

boarkillerThat's what boggles me, Asian leopards are so prevalent and still on endangered species list and so are jags
Doesn't make sense
