EdmondHunting in SE Asia?
Is it possible? any information about where and what to hunt would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

MamunurRahmanHi Edmond,
You can no longer hunt in most S.Asian countries any more. May be a wild boar permit in India or Pakistan, that too is not worth your while. You could do some sheep hunt in Pakistan , however with the present situation there, you would not like to risk your life. Locals still do "hunt". That would not be possible for tourist to get away with.
Hope this helps.

Ahmed SultanMamunur,
The original inquiry is about South East Asia and not South Asia. Secondly, your description about hunting in Pakistan is imprecise. Pakistan is the only country where you can legally hunt Markhor but the permits are only for foreigners and it cost about US$75,000. It also has some of the best hunting for Urial and Ibex and there are three different types of Urial and two different types of Ibex found in the country, which can be legally hunted. The community based Trophy hunting programs implemented in 1980s and 90s around the country are now a real success and resulted in significant increase in game population.
You are right that the current security situation in the country is not good but Pakistan is a big country and the hunting areas are in safer parts of country. We here are also very optimistic that the situation will not remain like this for ever and we will be able to over come our problems.

dutchtrapperRecently i did some hunting in Indonesia.
No outfitters/agency's overthere.
Hunting is mostly done by high military and police officers.
I was invited by one of them to join.
Mostly hunting is done by spotlighting.
You can hunt mostly wildboar, muntjac, rusa deer and small varmint like small cats etc.
Here some pics.
We also did some hunting on SBY international airport, to prevent bird crashes.
Have also some old hunting pics from Indonesia!!

Another try. Anyone know whom offer hunts in Vietnam or outfitters operating there?
May be going there in the future.

Mario,
Thanks for that contact. I was given the gentleman's name also on another forum.

Harv Hollek - alias 'Quinn Rafferty' - of the Hollek Company was the agent who was selling the hunts last year.
The price though for a Vietnam buff hunt! Might be interesting though.
seems also that in Cambodja ther'are some opportunities

I can confirm dutchtrapper's comments. I have a personal invitation to hunt wild boar in Indonesia in July. The photo I saw from a previous hunt showed a wild boar across the front of a Land Rover. He hung a foot off each side. They didn't know how much he weighed.
My wife said she's not cooking it. Luckily that is what she always says. I'm sure she'll do a great job with a loin or two. I'll try to get a smaller (more tasty) version.

dutchtrapperThe wildboar hunting is mostly taking place in the night with spotlight!!!!!
But some time is done by waiting in a three stand.
I now some islands in Indonesia where are really to much wildboar!!!!!!!
When you shot a wildboar, one off the locals will put in front of the hunting jeep!!!
Sometimes if you are lucky you will also need an truck to take all the wildboars with you.
A hunt in Indonesia is very interesting. Someone can find a good contact for me?
