NakihunterInteresting hunting in India
Cheetah, caracal and falcons - almost certainly Western India. My guess is early 1900s. Photo is from a book by a British military officer written in 1920s.

reddy375Never knew we had them there also! I know there are several species of wild cats.

NakihunterBoth Cheetah and Caracal used to be found as far down south as around 200 km from the cape.
My dad saw a caracal shot by local hunters in Ramnad district in around 1958. He was sure of it as it was more than double the size of a wild cat and also it had the long tufts of hair on the ear tips.
Most people would not believe this.
