BrettAKSCIHoly Grail!!!
A friend of mine here in Anchorage was fortunate enough to take a magnum marco polo in the Naryn River area of Kyrgyzstan last year. The taxidermist doing to mount is right around the corner from my office. I stopped over yesterday to see it and got this picture:
It's 56" long and I'm guessing 25lbs. I'm not holding it out either. It's right up against my body. I was absolutely in awe! I've held the horns of a 50" buffalo before and didn't get half the sense of awe I felt with this. I was damn near speachless. So let's see your marco polo trophy pics along with a blurp about where you shot it!

RELBATThank you for the compliment. As far as where I shot it, that would be just behind the shoulder! Unfortunately, It was cold as hell, even by Alaskan standards and with all of the crawling around, the camera (in a plastic bag under three layers of clothes}opened and filled with condensation. The result of condensation and -5 degrees is no to slow shutter speed and no pics in the field. I do have a few with me holding the skull. Not too sexy. If you wait until I return from Russia towards the end of the month, you can come over and finsh that bottle of Glen Fiddich you started and take a look at the real thing. Otherwise, you can catch it on Mounted In Alaska towards the end of the series. Relbat

RELBATBrett: By the way, thanks for turning me on to AR, I think. Interesting discussions and a few whacked out comments (people). I'm beginning to recognize the contributors and just ignore some of the chatter. This is a great forum for us hunters but, I agree with the person that suggested moving some of the political debate to the Politics section. A little goes a long way. Relbat

Very true! It didn't take you long to figure that out!
