zhabaI haven't hunted there but i knwo an russian outfitter that does. they mainly hunt sheep out of there how ever there is some nice bears to be taken but they don't seem to be as big as those on Kamchatka. Having said that he has taken some nice 8foot and a bit better bears

londonhunterI am in touch with 2 guide directly
I have also one offer to Kamchatka directly
What I hear from the Russian side is that bears are plentiful but they cannot guarantee size
Most I information on the net are cumulative of hut reports since 1950's and because of restrictive information bias bears from Kodiak and Alaska peninsula
I have no doubt Kodiak and big and so is coastal bear
My thinking is magadan has so little access and visits by hunters in the past 50 years
Large bears must be plentiful
Problems is who to trust
In Kamchatka I a hearing bears are larger even from the Russian guide due to abundance of foos co pared to magadan
I like to go this April / may
The right guid in the right area Kamchatka is my first choice at the moment

Land CruiserIf you're looking for 9+ Kamchatka is your best bet. There are plenty of bears just outside of Magadan (including mountain tundra right above the city) but you'll spend a good chunk of time looking for an 8 footer. There is only one outfitter in that area and their link is above. If you decide to go, PM and I'll give you some pointers on hotels, etc.

I am afraid you can't be further from the truth.

Bears in that region are heavily poached for gallbladder. That's all poachers take. Big bear = big gallbladder.

londonhunterDid you not notice my avatar ?
I recall visiting a safari show and approached a stand about rhino hunting and the PH did not know how to react ....
I am going to confirm Kamchatka in the next 2 weeks
I will be fine on accommodations and travel however I am not so sure about taxidermy
Love to have a full body standing mount so my intention is to export the skin to London and get it mounted there
Ay suggestions or experience ?

Land CruiserMy apologies, your avatar provides zero reference points for me.
These are the guys I worked with to get my trophies out of Russia:
http://trophyrus.com/No complaints. I would work with them again. The catch is that your outfitter needs to deliver them to Moscow. When you figure out who you're going with, ping me and I'll ask about them.
