collectorNorthern Pakistan Video - Markhor & Himalayan Ibex Areas
NORTHERN PAKISTAN....A nicely done documentary, about 50 minutes long, will give you a good understanding on the lay of the land.
Couple of markhor species and himalayan ibex are hunted in these areas by permits. Snow leopards also share these mountains.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_ceraNj650Journey takes you around the Indus river to many hunting towns like Swat, Chitral, Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza...most of these town names you will find familiar in the mountain hunters' books.
While books leave you to your imagination with a few still pics...this video shows you all of these towns in detail.

reddy375What a fascinating country India must have been before Independance in 1947, few people, guns galore, some of the richest hunters in the world, every species of game from Rhino, Big Cats, Elephant, mountain game, different species of bears, deer, super bird shooting, some of the most venemous snakes, terrific fishing both fresh water and sea, great food, fine hospitality! But even in those days the northern portions now Pakistan territories was a particularly wild and wooly place!

NakihunterThank you for helping me return to this wonderful mountain range. I have trekked in Kashmir, Hemkhund Saheb, Valley of Flowers, Har ki Doon, Dodi tal, Pokhra etc. in the 70s to mid 80s.
The hosptality and genuine affection of the high mountain people is so touching and humbling. I wish I could have trekked in North Pakistan too.
