A bit of hunting from Japan
Here is a bit hunting here in Hokkaido from the rut (roar). It was a good year with lots of big stags taken. Looking forward to next year. Thanks to Allan Foot for putting this video together.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Ok this video is awesome! How do you go about booking a trip to Japan? Are these Sika Deer importable into the USA and can you bowhunt for them??

Texas has Sika behind high fences and also a large population free range in the Hill Country. Many people hunt them with bows also. If you are really interested I can send you reliable contacts. With that said, hunting them in Texas is fun but doesn't look like it compares to the hunting in the video. That looked incredible.

Awesome as always, Eric.
Thank you for sharing the film. Very entertaining to see a new locale and new hunt not familiar to most.

Wooooow!

You should start a guided service where you take guys along & they watch you shoot these big stags! You might even have a few crazy Kiwi Sika cult followers take up the offer! Big Grin

Very nice footage. Looks like a lot of fun. How does one go about getting more information about this hunt?

Amazing video!

Really interesting to view. I have done some work with Manchurian in parks in UK and find all species Sika very interesting.

Great video. Those Sika deer are huge and way bigger than the Sika we have running around the swamps here in Maryland.

Sounded like you were using an elk cow call? We use those along with a Sika deer call when hunting them during the rut here in Maryland.

Thanks for sharing.

Careful. Somewhere here on AR there is another thread on this topic where I believe the same OP informed us rather bluntly that we were all shit out of luck. A shit storm followed as I recall.

Epic thread that was....but I think they kissed and made up at the end of it all.

Nice video....you're a lucky man to be able to hunt there.

Not sure what we have to be careful about? Just thought the hunt looked fantastic, if it's not a trip that people can do......well that's fine. Great footage!
