bwanamrmGood luck and Godspeed!

Bryan WRoss,
Good Luck. Just checking the weather. Single digit highs (F), with lows in the minus teens. Looks like great weather! Enjoy the hunt. I can't wait to read the hunt report.

RMBHunterJust got back in December. Yep, the business class lounge in Istanbul is amazing. Get ready for cold temps and high altitude, but game is everywhere.

dogcatWell, I survived.... -35F every morning. One day the high actually was +5F.
Killed a nice ibex and a good ram....
Will post a report soon with pics.
A very, very challenging trip. Very remote, drove 600km from Dushanbe to the area. Paralleled the Afghan border for 300km. Unbelievable vertical mountains....
Altitude was tough. We hunted at 14,200’ most of the time. I live at 5200’ and still had trouble catching my breath.
Organization was excellent, guides were exceptional hunters. Most were Kirghiz.
Area is very big, 92,000 hectares, holds 1000 ibex, 600 sheep, 9 snow leopards, 6 bears, yaks , fox and others. Seriously managed and studied.
We were very limited where we could go due to 18” to 24” of very soft powder snow. Roads were good, vehicles good, but the snow hampered us. Made one 2000m stalked up the foothills and though5 I would drop on the hike down. Snow and altitude are tough on 65 year old lungs.
Shots were very long - 605 yards on sheep and 700 yards on ibex. The SAAM school prepared me well.
The cold was tough on us. Both shots occurred at -10F. One of rings on the scope cracked due to cold. Did not affect the zero, but was concerning.
A lot tougher hunt than I expected....
Africa is calling.... no snow, no cold...
Anyway, will post pics and story.
