Very interesting. I suppose even if the game were still there in abundance few could afford to feed that many elephants! I realize that the scale of a royal hunt is far larger than a regular hunt, of course.

I was looking at a couple of auction lots this week of Antique photos of tiger hunting. They really are stunning but make heaps. I tried to bid on one last year that was estimated at £200, but the bidding quickly made £1200 before I even got to think about it!!

Definately a peice of history we shan't be revisiting in a hurry. Thaks for sharing,

My grandparents introduced me to a friend of theirs (whom I now consider my friend as well) that has had a very extensive hunting career over his life. I have asked him about his hunts for everything African, but I was most shocked when I asked him if he had ever shot a tiger. He very humbley replied, "Yes . . . seven." He later sent me some photos of the various man eating leopards and tigers he had shot in India. I'm at college right now, but if I remember when the quarter ends I'll post them.
