Los Chanares
We just got back today from yet another fantastic trip. I am guessing that I have been somewhere between 12 and 15 times. The trip did not fall short of expectations in any respect.

Personally, I shot about 5,500 birds in the 3 full days.

I did have some surprises. We actually went to some areas that I had not been to before. One of these areas was new. I was the first to ever shoot it.

We had several first timers. All loved it. This place is nothing short of fantastic.

I brought my own guns. I continue to be puzzled as to why I can't HIT birds as well with my 28 as I can with my 20. I had a couple of interesting gun problems . The button on the side of the gun that closes the action broke. I have never heard of that. The spring in the middle of the bolt apparently had a small piece break off.

I made a separate thread on the new gun rules. I will bring mine again.

Mike, everyone expects to shoot a flat of shells at a time. They do, however, expect you to hit more than 3 birds with said flat of shells :-)

I didn't take any photos as I have been so many times. I did have their photographer take some photos and make a book.

I can post some prior year pics if you like.

Shooting doves appeals to me as much as watching biebs sight in a rifle - first shoot, then go get earth moving equipment to build a bigger berm, then shoot, again get earth moving equipment.

Shooting 1000s of rounds a day seems more like work than fun - I would be eating steak and drinking wine instead.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Hey Larry,

Looks like you guys had a heap of fun!! Los Chanares is indeed a class outfit for sure.

It is a shame we can't manage to get together at a clay range sometime with your 28 bore as I'm sure we could get it ironed out quite quickly.

Usually it is a technique issue that is exacerbated as you move to the smaller tubes because the progressively retain less momentum in the swing. It can usually be remedies with some foot work exercises or alteration in the way you swing the gun.

They also usually benefit from a little more LOP on them when dealing with the double guns but I'm not sure it has as much impact on the S/A's as it does on a SxS of OU.

Keep well,
Kiri

To follow up on fallow Buck's thought .... is to move your forward hand farther out on the gun. this will change the momentum and slow the swing down

Not a day goes by where I don't think about my time at Los Chanares - the birds, smoking hot barrels, the food, the wine.....
