Panhandle Pheasant
Our opening day of pheasant hunting in the Oklahoma Panhandle was pretty slow. 8 of us hunted our tails off including my GSP. Of the 8 only three of us dropped a bird. I fired only one round from the Benelli M2 20 for my one bird.

Is the pheasant population down in that area? It's been a few years but I've been on a few really good hunts over on the Texas side in Ochiltree county, seemed like a great population.

It has been down the last couple of years in our area. A lot of the crops like sunflowers are still in the fields. Birds leave at first light and don't come back to our grass till nearly dark.
All of the family's CRP is out of the program. They are slowly leasing out the good grass for grazing or are cutting hay. I'm looking for new areas to hunt.

Sorry to hear it.....sounds like they lost their food/cover/water or a combo of 'em.
