Japanese made Browning A5 and Steel Shot
Ladies and Gentlemen:

I'll be calling Browning today in Utah, but I would like your opinions also.

Can I use steel shot in the Japanese made Browning A5 with the fixed choke (non-Invector system) barrel?

Sincerely,

Chris Bemis

I did it for years with a modified barrel with no problem.

My OPINION is yes. BUT Do NOT get a choke tighter than MODIFIED if you want to shoot steel...

Dear Andrew M:

I just picked up a 32" Japanese 3" magnum full choke barrel for the A5.

I talked with Browning. Steel shot in the full choke only up to and including #2.

I talked with Hevi-shot in Oregon. Any Hevi-shot size in the full choke, but you can drop down 3-4 shot sizes with Hevi-shot or one size down with Hevi-shot steel.

Sincerely,
