She's a female so it's a chick thing, common to all species, particularly Homo sapiens.

"Dixie, Valkyrie, Maggie....????"
"Please gentlemen, he is asking for the coolest name"
the name "Lorenzo" is not cool in North America, and perhap it's a mexican migrant worker name in North America.
Sorry about the fact that Lorenzo is not a cool name, maybe in South America?

The Black Labs were supposed to have originated from my part of the world, Dumfriesshire Scotland...Could have a look at some of the olde names about..

I was working with a guy once and we both happened to have our dogs around. I'm hard of hearing so when he told me his dogs name was Tory I referred to it as Cory the rest of the day. Finally he blurted out that her name was T-O-R-Y and asked me how I would feel if he referred to my bird dog (Cub) as Bub or Dub? I turned to Cub and said "hey stupid come here" and she came over tail wagging.
We've started referring to Cub as poppit lately. From a line in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean when the Pirates find the babe in the closet and say "ello poppit!"
I've pretty much decided to name my next bird dog poppit if it is a female. KevD

dawg_docWhatever you do, keep in mind that Murphy's Law of Dog Names sez that the dog will grow into his/her name. I named a cute little funny looking puppy 'Far Side' one time, because he looked like Gary Larsen's cartoon puppies. That dog turned out to be the strangest, most neurotic dog with an incredibly bizarre sense of humor. Let's see, the girls in my kennel:
Greta (GSP)
Wren
Robin
Petey (actually Petunia, but that's a dumb name and she looks like her father, Pete, who has since passed on)
Bugs
Sage
Kelty
Rose
Ivy
Lily
Dallas (not named by me)
Cedar
Clare
Keep the name simple, short and easy to say. Good luck!
p.s. actually, there was a great black blues singer a number of years ago named 'Odetta'. I always thought that would be a cool name...

navyhunterMy wife's dog is named Pickles.
Named our black lab pup: Gidgett.
Seemed to fit and the kids loved it.
I knew a weiner dog named JD once. Stood for Just Dog. A short name might be the best, easier to keep a dogs attention.
How about:
Guss (even for a girl)
Lady
JD
Tawney
Dakota
Dog
Jessybell (personal favorite for girl dog)
Sevens
