Anybody got any idea on how the quail are going to be this year?

graybirdIn the Okla panhandle just east of Boise City the blue quail and pheasant crops have been great so far. Plenty of food, water, and minimal hail this summer, so far. Just hope the hail storms stay away and the crop should be outstanding again this year.

Tx6BRLooks like our crop of pheasant and quail east of Guymon Oklahoma are going to be excellent. Here at the home range in West Texas it's going to be questionable. We have had so much rain this year, another 4" last week, it is hard to see the birds due to the weeds. Cover in many areas is over 4' and some places even taller. Snakes have been so bad I have yet to get the GSP's out even though they have their snake shots. It will be interesting to see what we wind up with. I think it will be another good crop, the birds have everything they could want.

StonecreekI was in Fisher and Jones Counties Aug. 18-19 (during the 8 inch rain). I saw lots of coveys, despite not getting out all that much. The percentage of nests that would have been impacted by the flooding would be minimal. I look for an excellent year. (Hoping the same for doves, also!)
