drewhenrytntTaxidermist for Turkey in CC,TX
Folks,
I shot a turkey this past weekend and instantly made the decision to have him mounted. He weighed 26lbs, has an 11inch beard, and spurs just under an inch. This is my first turkey with a centerfire rifle. I need recommendations for a taxidermist in the Corpus Christi,Texas area. First pictures as soon as I get the film developed, then more when the bird comes back.

MThuntrI would give Eric Schmidt of Alive Again Recreations in Corpus Christi a call. (361) 737-9296. He may be able to point you in the right direction. I believe he is a bird only taxidermist.
He did a beautiful job on a friend's quail.

collectorIf the bird is really special and means a lot to you then I would send it to Master Taxidermist Shane Smith...he won the World Championship with his turkey mounts. Based out of Alabama, you can wrap the bird up and send it via UPS.
http://www.waterfowler.net/Artistic/turkey.php26 lbs is a very big Turkey and not any taxidermist will be able to pull it off...you need a specialist for something that big.
Shane is currently working on my Ocellated Turkey that I hunted in the Yucatan, I will post pics when it arrives.
Feel free to shoot me a PM anytime.

Eric Schmidt has done quite a few birds for my collection. He is absolutely a first class individual and his skills as a taxidermist are second to none.
