Magna port Pro Port & Pigeon Porting?
Anyone had their shotgun Proported. Does it really reduce recoil & muzzle rise? How much loader to the shooter with the ports?

Bob,

I've shot a few different guns with pro porting, doesn't really help with recoil, but it does stop muzzle rise a little. I don't think it's really worth the money unless you're doing a lot of fast shooting, but some people do swear by it. I don't think it makes the gun that much louder, but I'm almost deaf anyway. bewildered All in all, I think it would be appropriate on a sporting clays, doubles trap, or maybe a skeet gun, but for hunting...eh.

I heal fast and don't scar.

The science behind it makes it usefull for full loads but not target loads.I watched a side by side test in sporting clays with an expert shooter using two O/U Brownings ,one ported one unported. We could see no difference and he could feel no difference in recoil or muzzle rise.So that confirmed the theory !! Sound will also depend on load ,hotter=> louder .In theory porting can reduce recoil by as much as 25 % depending on load. The ports on top of the barrel reduce muzzle rise which can have a big effect on "felt recoil".
