Late Season South Dakota Roosters! (Pics!!)
Just finished up hosting some of my undergrad friends for a 3 day pheasant hunt on my stomping grounds. Overall they were mostly 2 year old birds and extremely spooky. They would start getting out of the field when we slammed the truck doors. We were able to catch up with a few each day and the last day was especially good hunting and weather. Just wanted to share a few of the pics from this past weekend. Happy New Year!

Great pics! Love the ones with the old barn in the background.
Late season pheasant are often well earned!
Nice looking dogs too!

Fantastic pictures.

I can imagine that it was a challenging & rewarding hunt, well done.

I'm hoping this next season I make the trip up there, re-tracing grampa's days.

Thanks for the nice comments. From my experience, if I had a choice to hunt the last day of the season or opening weekend, I would always hunt the late season. Usually the snow makes them sit a little tighter, but alas they were particularly smart this year and we picked off the stragglers.
I was using my new Canon T4i DSLR for the photos and very happy with it so far, still learning how to use it properly though.
