owensbyDon't know how much experience you have with amuzzle loader, but if you want a 200 yds one there are several that will make a 200yd gun. That is if you want to put in the time and practice to make it one.I have shot a lot of them but haven't seen one yet that shoots small groups out of the box, without working up the right load for it.If you are wanting to shoot only black powder subs a knight,T/C or ruger would be good ones.Have seen some of the less expensive CVA's shoot very good groups also.
If you want to shoot smokless for the price it would be hard to beat a savage.
Would have to say the best would be the savage since I have 2 of them, and both shoot small groups out to 300 yds.The fartherest I have taken a deer with my savage is 234 yds, haven't gotten the deer to cooperate yet for 300 yd shot.
The best advice for someone wanting to shoot long range with a muzzleloader is to get a range finder at the same time and use it,after 150 yds a muzzleloader bullet drops like a rock.My savage shoots pretty fast but still drops 27 inches at 300 yds.

fairchaseAt any distance the Knight Disc Elite can be very accurate...if that's what you mean by the best?

ReloaderSavage 10ML II
Very Accurate out to 200+ and a good trajectory.
My Savage only drops from 4-6" at 200 when sited around 2" high at 100 w/ the 250 SSTs bumping along at 2300-2400 from the muzzle.
Good Luck

Coltchriswapiti7: Ya, its pretty wicked!!! I've got one, but haven't had a chance to shoot over 100 yds. with it yet. With (4) Triple Seven pellets & 300 gr. bullets, it rocks you pretty good! Will be shooting alot this Summer to get the trajectory down. Its really something, of course it ought to be for the price!

wapiti7CC, I'm ordering mine in Feb. I've been shooting my buddys in AZ. The tech guy at UF says that they're getting the best accuracy from regular pyrodex. It will handle 250gr real easy but you start losing long distance accuracy. Keep in touch and this spring when I start shooting, I'll visit with you. I can't wait to whack an elk at 400yds across a flat piece of dirt!!!!

also I checked the gun safe, in the back is a CVA hunter bolt 209 magnun, that I won a coupla years ago, mabey I should try it before I buy a Savage?

sdgunslingerI've used a 45 caliber smokepole on a number of deer , and I've found it pretty effective , both in terminal performance and from the standpoint of trajectory(by muzzleloader standards)
My load has been the 195 gr Dead Center over 100 grains of loose FFFg 777 . It chronos right at 2100 fps and with a 3 inch high sighting @100 yards , it is only 3to4 inches low at 200 .

Les StaleyDHL4570: Prolly not a good idea to stuff heavy loads in the hunterbolt... we don't want to be reading your obits.. save it for close work, under a hundred yards.. for your own safety.. Les

I have an Encore in 45 and 50 cal. 200 yards is very do able. I have taken game out to 165 yards with my 50 cal, using 195 gr. DC duplex precision rifle bullets and sabots.
If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.
