dsmit50pyrodex?
After reading a few of these threads, I've got to ask, am I the only one left shooting this stuff?

BuglemintodayI shoot T7 out of my CVA Accura. Although once I run out of it I probably won't go back.
I plan on shooting Pyrodex out of my White Super 91. I hear RS or Select is pretty good.
For my .58 Lyman and .54 T/C Renegade I am going to stick with Goex...unless I can ever find a place that sells that "Swiss" stuff. I am looking at getting another muzzleloader but this time a FlintLock in .54...with a Roundball twist.
We Shall see!
What type of muzzleloader/type of Pyrodex are you shooting?

LBGuyi use black powder in my tc renegade. all the inline shooters i know use 777 or the like. i don't know anyone who still uses pyrodex. however, if it works for you, i see no reason to change.

DoublessI have a friend in Idaho Falls that has shot probably 8000 round out of his White Whitetail, all with Pyrodex P. But I read on other sites where it leaves the bore looking quite "burned" if you look at it with a borescope... so I don't know.
I am shooting Hodgdon T7 3F now, but am thinking seriously about going back to straight black. Ballistol will clean the residue from black quite handily and although the smell is somewhat unpleasant, the cleaning task doesn't last that long.
And typically, black is just flat out more accurate than the synthetics. Maybe not always, but usually, at least in my experience. I just can't carry black out of state, and sometimes it is hard to find...

larrysI use the pellets in my CVA staghorn Magnum. It works great. I just can't bring myself to use a powder that leaves a crud ring or requires a "special" primer like 777 does.
For my Optima Pro and Kodiak I use Blackhorn209.

leemar28Been shooting Pyrodex P out of my White for ever. Got the rifle when they were 1st made. It gets shot a lot. Used in all weather.Cleanest bore you will ever see. It's stainless, but it is still like new. Easy to clean with windex.
Best for my $$ !

alleyyooperNever used Prydex my self. Always used real black till it became nearly impossiable to find local. I use triple seven, works fine in the T/C hawkins with #11 caps, the T/C plains rifle also with #11 caps. the Remington 700 50 cal still uses # 11 caps all with out experinceing a crud ring. Never heard anuy one except T/C owners with the newer in lines complain about a crud ring.

Ken in VAI never really made the change to Triple 7. Got put out with the crud ring I kept getting and turned back to my old faithful Pyrodex.
Still shooting it in my Contender 209x50 and a Pursuit XLT. Currently experimenting with BH209 in my Triumph and am liking it very much.

paiaI shot Pyrodex and the 777 in my T/C Omegas until Blackhorn209 came out in 2008 (?). I've shot BH209 ever since. Have gone through over 16 containers--about 1000 shots--and really like the stuff. It has been very consistent and accurate with several different loads, and it is about as non-corrosive as smokeless. But I killed some great deer with Pyrodex and it still works. And I shoot a few pounds of Goex black in my flintlocks every year.....

dsmit50I shoot pyrodex rs pellets in a t/c encore. Still works so I just keep shooting it. Our m/l season opened today and there is one less doe in my neighborhood due to pyrodex.

DeerSkinneryou are not. I have used BP and like all the smoke, but I use more of Pyrodex P&RS because it is better priced and the gun shop carries it.

guns68I shoot pyrodex RS. It works well enough. I can't get real plackpowder up here.
If we don't try, we don't do. And if we don't do, what are we here for?

In spite of the advertising hype, BH209 is a nitro-cellulose bulk smokeless powder.

UnderclockedSwiss 2f or 3f is the way to go if you can find it and afford it. Forget about hangfires. I would occasionally get a hangfire from my White before switching over to the Swiss (was using Pyrodex P before).
http://www.powderinc.com/catalog/order.htmhttp://mainepowderhouse.com/sw...k-powder-3-fg-25lbs/But I am shooting BH209 out of my 209 ignited inlines. Good stuff aside from the flame channel carbon deposits - which are manageable.
