Am looking to buy a new inline MZ, any suggestions. I feel the break action types are probably the best as they are easier to clean?

My vote is for the T/C Triumph. This is my second muzzle loader and my first T/C, just sweet!!! Very accurate, great trigger, speed breech and easy to clean.

First thing to do is decide what states you might use it in as different states have different regulation regarding things like exposed primer, scopes, ect.

I really, really like my T/C Encore.

I have owned caplock,bolt action inline and break open, and I think the break open is by far the best action for a muzzle loader .Cleans up much faster,IMHO.

I have a Triumph and T/Cs Encore and I like the Encore the best.I get better accuracy with it and you have the option of adding a bar. or two for other uses .

i believe it is best to determine what the laws are in the state you are hunting in before you pick a gun. if cleaning is the only concern get a savage and shoot smokeless.

Cant go wrong with TC.I have an Omega now but the Black Diamond I had also shot great.

CVA Accura is another good choice to look at.

I've found more 'stuff' for the Encore than other ML'ers in my searches, and It is a stable accuarate platform. Go to Precision Muzzleloading products and read about some of the accessories, i.e. the locker pin and primer option platforms. Good stuff there.

I am starting to like my Savage, but frankly the build quality is poor. I think the encore is the best all around, and if you get a new 'Endeavor' model, it has a breach plug that you can remove by hand, and it elimninates to the largest degree any 'blowback'.

I personaly shoot a TC encore but the triumph gets really great reviews from friends. Only problem is even tho it has iron sights. most people can't get their face down on the stock and see the sights. Its pretty much a scope gun only. If you plan on hunting colorado unless your built funny you can't see the irons

I sure like my Omega. A 1/4" ratchett 3/8"(?) socket and an extension are all that is neccesary to remove the breach plug when it is scoped. And that keeps it a fixed breach gun.

I ran an Encore 209x50 for several years, but I've grown to appreciate my flintlocks more so now a nephew owns it. I like the modular flexibility of the Encore, Contender, H&R/NEF, and the new Knight KP-1. The other 50 weeks of the year these smokepoles can be cartridge rifles, shotguns, and in the case of the T/Cs - pistols or handguns. Lots of great choices out there these days.

I have never used a break open but havn't seen anyone give Knight any praise but I love my Disc Elite and the round plastic disc seals out all water and makes your primer super easy to find in a pocket and load even with gloves on.

I too am looking for a new ML. I have a T/C Omega that is about a year old but I am not particularly pleased with the accuracy and I have tried a lot of different bullets. Seems like the Encore would be a better choice than the Triumph?

I own both but the triumph, at least for me, is more dependable on the accuracy side. 100 grains and a 265 bullet. At 150 grains it is not quite as accurate.

That being said, the Triumph can be, most certainly is, a wee bit tight on loading-- that part is frustrating. Patch it every time and it's better, but even the first round is quite tight.

My Encore was a bear to load, so much so I carried a piece of metal for the palm of my hand. This year I tried some Harvester sabots with my Barns bullets with outstanding results. Easy, easy loading and great accuracy.

My knight Bighorn, while an older model due to Wash hunting regs, is an accurate shooter with a good quality trigger.

I'm a big time Encore fan but now find myself msotly using the Omega. I bought one with the thumbhole laminated stock and just love it so find myself grabbing it everytime out and the Encore sits in the safe. Both shoot equally as well (1 moa or better) with my loads but I like the thumbhole stock on the Omega for treestand hunting. Of course you can get a thumbhole for the Encore if you liked that. Versatility wise the Encore offers you the ability to change out other barrels also.

I have a T/C omega. I dont think I will ever own another 50 cal as long as the 45 is legal anywhere I hunt. With a barnes 175gr mz expander and 2 50gr pyro pellets this thing will shoot half inch groups at 100yds. My hunting buddys encore 45 does the same.

You said new, so this probably won't apply, but I still prefer my Whites... There is a laminated stainless .504 Model 97 on Gunbroker right now. These rifles are simple to break down and clean, they are designed to shoot heavy conicals (mine shoot to ~1-1/2" @ 100), are drilled and tapped for optics, and have single stage triggers set at about 3#.

The one currently on gunbroker has a buy it now price of $290, and that is with free shipping, a soft case, and 60 projectiles to get started. The rear sight is missing, and there is no breakdown tool, but a 3/8" socket and ratchet handle will take care of that, and the rear sight is available from Midway.

Here's one place. I got mine at my local pro shop, and I did notice that Barns has started selling an E-Z load sabot.
