Re: Looking for an affordable Muzzleloader
.45 caliber is the minimum for Hunting big game in Montana. Optics etc.. are not a problem, but I have to use an "all lead bullet".

I am really looking for a muzzleloader to get access to hunting areas where I can't use my regular rifle. I want something easy to clean, and accurate. I'm not into the nostalgia of the muzzleloader. I am probably going to get an in-line, but all the in-lines have a very fast twist made for sabots. I dont know if they will work well with a conical bullet.

Oh, you want to shoot big conicals. White is the name for those guns.
Take a look at Doc's website http://www.whitemuzzleloading.com/
He does have some guns for sale, or you can go to the WhiteRifle website

Since you mention the CVA Staghorn, you must want to limit the price, so I would recommend either the TC Black Diamond at Basspro or the new CVA Buckhorn. Both will shoot conicals well, the CVA shooting their Buckslayer bullets. You might also consider Precision Rifle conicals.

The Savage ML 10 II has a 1:24 twist and it will shoot conicals fine so, you should'nt worry too much about a fast twist hurting accuracy.

Good Luck!

Montana law states "must use lead projectile only, no sabots." I'd pick me up a Knight Wolverine 209, Knight Disc Elite, or T/C Omega either in .50 cal. I'd next buy a pack each of 348, 405, and 444gr lead Powerbelts and some ffg 777 loose. 85-100gr of 777 should do it for you.
