how well do conical bullets such as hornadys great Plains or TC Maxis shoot in a 1 in 32 twist 54 cal

They shoot great, thats what the faster twist is made for, stabilizing longer projectiles.

fast twist(1-24 to 1-48) for conials and sabots, slow twist (1-60) and slower round balls

that said, existing records of the Hawken Shop show that almost all of their cap guns featured deep cut rifling .008-.012" and a 1:48" twist.

Go figure, we know so much today that isn't historical.

I have a TC Renegade with a 1/48 twist and it will shoot Lee REAL conicals into an inch at 50 yds. It should work fine for you. Smiler
