T/C Endeavor problem
A friend bought a T/C Endeavor and has an unusual problem. He tried it with Winchester 209 Muzzleloader primers, and 3 out of four times it wouldn't cock.
It would close up OK, but the hammer couldn't cock. He'd try again and it would eventually work. Then he tried Federal 209's that are supposedly endorsed by T/C and it worked about 1/2 the time.
Has anybody else had this problem? What's the solution? He called T/C and they were uncharacteristically unhelpful.

I don't know that much about them so my knowledge is limited. But it does not sound like a primer problem to me. It sound more like the mechanism for the hammer is needs adjusted or repaired. If it is not cocking properly what is to say the hammer won't fall prematurely. Thats scary!

What is happening is that the action isn't closing fully even if it appears that it is. The nipple for the primer is probably projecting a bit too far back. Closing the action firmly will probably help but that gets old and isn't too good for the gun.

If I were your friend, I would send the gun back to T/C and I have confidence that they'll fix it at no charge even if he isn't the original owner.

Thanks for the input, guys. I already recommended to him that it should go back to T/C. He says it will, but not until after the season.

Is it possible to run the primers through the gun first, so he can make sure he'll have a half dozen or so he can count on working properly?

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

I really think it ain't the primers, they would crush before the action won't close to a degree that it won't cock....maybe too obvious but did he try it without primers and then it cocks everytime??

I have seen this before with a TC, not an endeavor, but taking everything apart and cleaning the action well cured the issue.

Good luck to your pal!

I hate to say this, as before you know it it becomes fact, but Smiler

I did hear ONCE that the Winchester primers are a bit larger than others....might be true ??
