700 nitronew 72 caliber d.pedersolie rifles
i came across this rifle and figured some you fellas would like this gun.... for once you can get a factory available heavy sporting rifle for use with a round ball or short conical.

CowboyCSThe lines of the gun are nice and the caliber is big enough for most big game anywhere, the problem I have with it is that Pedersoli just turned their Gibbs bench gun to a field gun. The problem is they didn't bother to add the rest of the field parts, such as an underrib, pipes and a RAMROD, which I would consider a pretty necessary thing to have away from the bench.

700 nitroi agree they could have put all that stuff on the rifle as who the hell carries there ram rod seperate from the rifle unless you have some ungodly huge rifle like the 2 bore i had built thats the only rifle iv ever owend wich could not have a ram rod on it but had to carry it in a back holster.

nordrsetaStill, I like the idea of a 12 ga single-shot rifle. Wonder if there's room in the stock for a takedown loading rod under a trapdoor buttplate?

CowboyCSEven the 2 Bore I am currently building has a Ramrod, actually it has a steel ramrod to add weight. This is just my personal opinion but in a hunting rifle/field gun it should always have a ramrod.

The fore end on the Gibbs looks fairly thin, and there's the key and its underlug to consider
http://www.davide-pedersoli.com/img/Esplosi/S.230.pdf Do you think there's room to retrofit a rib and ramrod on this one? If not, a jointed rod might be the only on-gun solution. Your progress photos of the 2 bore are quite something! Please keep us posted.

CowboyCSI've only ever seen one of the Pedersoli Gibbs rifle and I didn't have the opportunity to take it apart and have a look at it(it was at a cabelas), But my guess is that a guy could probably sneak a 3/8" ramrod onto it with a button to make up for the bore size. It would probably be a real close fit and some of the underlug would probably have to be removed but I suspect it could be done. One of the problems with retofitting it though would be that the forearm tip would need to be reworked to allow for an entry pipe and there may not be enough wood around it to allow for that. Of course it could always be cut off and replaced with a new piece and reshaped from scratch.

Bill/OregonCertainly agree Pedersoli dropped the football by not adding a ramrod. What were they thinking?
