p dog shooterMuzzle loader buck story
last evening was the last day of Wis. Muzzle loader season I wasn't able to hunt regular rifle as I was sick.
Just started feeling better Sunday so I shot and confirmed the zero on my muzzle loader.
Still not feeling real great I just poked around not really caring if I shot something.
I told every body I shoot a big one or a little meat deer if it was a easy retrieve.
About 30 minutes before the end of season I was poking along one of the logging roads on my property.
I seen a lot of sign in the area. digging in the snow for acorns.
Oh there's a deer oh he has a really nice set of horns.
About 50 yards away I get a good rest and start to settle the cross hairs when He steps behind a tree.
As he steps forward and exposes his front shoulder I settle the crosshairs and touch her off.
As I come out of recoil I notice a buck running and one standing there.
Then it takes off running both were shooters.
I reload and 30 minutes of searching no blood no hair nothing.
6 inches of snow on the ground.
When I got home I shot the load in the rifle to unload it.
It seemed like it was a different sound.
Bad load, limb I don't know but the buck is still running around the woods.
Or the mystery exploding bullet failure.
Dang because there is no way I could of missed.
