I'm shooting a CVA 45 cal and would like to know if the powerbelt 225gr HP bullet is adequate for deer?

I bought a knight 45 I think 3 years ago,it had a 1:20 twist,the 225 pb was the only bullet I got tiny groups with.First time I hunted with it I took one on a power line at 170 yds,bullet made complete pass through taking about 6 inches of spine with it.I sold it the next year to one of my brothers and he took 2 deer with it tht year but don't know the circumstances he had.The target below is how it shot at 100 yds.
