WPNflintlock longrifles
I've recently have become interested in American Longrifles. I just received a copy of "Thoughts On The Kentucky Rifle In It's Golden Age" by Joe Kindig, Jr., and have more books on the way.
Who are the top riflemakers in the country? Mark Silver, Michael Ehringer and Steve Davis are names that have been mentioned to me. Can anyone here recommend others? I am looking for a builder who can make a top quality firearm I can take hunting. Unlike many, I take my bespoke SxS game guns out in all weather and manner of cover, but I don't want, nor can afford, an exhibition quality museum piece. Just something very well made and finished.
Thanks.

458WinWayne, When I moved to Alaska (and started bear hunting) I gave up on flintlocks and long rifles but before that I had given up on modern rifles and only used a flint longrifle that John Bivins had built for me on everything. With a well tuned flintlock I never felt I was giving up anything for the first shot. Plus it made hunting great fun.

Good Luck

mcbCheck with
www.trackofthewolf.com as well. There are some very talented folks selling their guns through their site. Nice people to talk with too. Good hunting!
