Pills or powder in renegade?

I have an old renegade. No not my wife! A rifle. Can you use the 50 gr pellets just the same as powder in it? pardon my ignorance on this.

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

I have read that pellets do not work well in traditional non inline BP rifles they need to be loaded with loose powder.
