Joe A.Deer Hunt results
A couple of pictures of the 2 deer I killed this week.
The doe was shot at 80 yards. The 8 point at 65 yards. Was using a MK85 with 295 PBATs. I got a misfire on the buck. Was able to recap and fire again. The buck dropped in his tracks.

Joe A.Croberts, I love the boots. Very comfortable to wear and walk. Also very warm. It's reccomended to only wear cotton socks with them. I've worn thin wool socks with no ill efffects. Also, they're very easy on and off.
They make them with two types of sloes. One with small lugs and one with large lugs. I like the one with the large lugs. Less slipping.
Got mine at the local CO-OP.

Edited: I normally wear another pair of easy on/easy off leather boots to and from the woods.

Hot CoreHey Joe, Congratulations on two fine kills.
Any idea what cause the misfire?

CrobertsJoe,
I am glad you like them. I recently purchased a pair at my local coop. They have not come in though. I hope to get to use them before long.
Thanks,
CRoberts

Joe A.Hot Core, I'm not sure exactly. That morning I forgot and left my load bag (possibles bag) in my truck and rode with my nephew. When we arrived at our hunting lease was when I noticed that. Luckly, my barrel was charged but no percussion caps. Borrowed caps from nephew and one quick load and went hunting. By the way, it was exciting trying to recap an inline with my fingers with a buck looking at you.
Before season I noticed several short hangfires, just a short hesitation. Last night I put on a new nipple. After this morning's hunt, I fired it and it fired as soon as the cap was hit. The same when I shot it empty this afternoon. Maybe the new nipple cured the problem.
Passed on a similiar buck this morning. Waiting on a bigger one.

Hot CoreHey Joe, I'm not knowledgeable with a BP firearm and do hope that fixed it for you.
The rifle looks "new" in the flicks so I doubt it has a problem similar to one a buddy of mine had. He bought a "used" Knight about 10-years ago and had a series of mis-fires with it. He called Knight and they sent him a new Striker Spring(at no charge) and that totally curred his problem. Apparently the old Spring had either weakened over time or just was not as strong as the new one to begin with.
I can just imagine moving around re-capping with the Buck looking in your direction. Amazing that it stood still long enough for the second shot.
Anyway, congratulations on the fine kills.

Joe A.DanM, thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid my wife would shoot ME.
As far as the color, I could play dumb and say "I reckon it has faded some".

Joe, great deer. I just want to know how you shot them with no holes? Scared them did ya?
Great deer.

Joe A.larrys, The doe took a frontal shot- no exit. The buck if you look hard, was hit high behind the front shoulder- Complete pass thru and dropped in his tracks.
Also behing the buck a couple of steps was an inch/ inch and half sappling that was centered and shot thru with half a handfull of flesh and tissue on it.
