Yes, sadly enough I can't blame anyone but myself. Now that you mention it I am in the process of restocking it and refinishing the steel parts to brown.

My experience indicates that the black powder has to be ignited with a flint or cap to convert it to white smoke. The same event also brings out the wonderful aroma of black powder. Just one of many things sorely missing in all the substitutes.
