Started trying BH209 in my Knight .50cal Disc Elite and I am experiencing a lot of hangfires. I am using WInchester primers. WHen I took the breechplug out the flashhole was clear! Any tips would be appreciated.

Are you using full power Winchester 209 primers or the wimpy ones for T7? You should only use the full power primers.

skip the winchester primers. Go get yourself some cci mag or federal mag 209 shotgun primers. I have only used cci's and never had a hangfire in 2.5 bottles of bh209. All the guys I have talk to only use cci or fed's. Winchester, t7, rem's, and muzzleloader 209's are weaker powered primers.

use an 1/8" drill bit and with your fingers, turn it and cut the carbon out of the breech plugs flash channel.

Guys: Used the CCI Mag Primers last weekend and had no problems. Now the problem is finding a semi-accurate load! Thanks for the tips.

Try 90 to 110 grains by volume. Most people seem to find their loads in that range. I know mine likes 110.

90grains and a precision rifle 430gr lead conical does amazing things to stuff you point it at and my gun shoots them to 1 1/2" at about 80yds.

Mine also likes 110 grains by volume. I use the Hornady SST in sabots, but everything I have tried likes the 110.

My Elite likes 100 gr BH209, Barnes 245 and 285 Spitfire MZ's

get a set of torch tip cleaners, that is what I use to keep mine clean.

But my ignition is not an issue with 44gr VV N110 in a savage 10ML

No hangfire issues with the 209 here. Had my frontstuffer loaded for 2 weeks in and out of sub freezing temps, and back in the house every night, with the same load in it. It went bang when I pulled the trigger.
