Re: Caliber for a conival rifle?
.45 or .50 cal for conicals, no need for anything bigger, even in Africa I suppose. The magic is in the bullet and charge, with conicals. NOT caliber once you get up to the .45 range or bigger.

Twist suitable to stabilize 500 grains in either caliber and you're done.

Some states DO require a larger caliber. Colorado requires a .50 cal.

I have a few White rifles that are by design slip-fit conical shooters. One is a .451 1 in 20 twist and the other two .504s 1 in 24 twist. They are designed to shoot conicals in the 360gr to 600gr weight. I usually use a No Excuses 460gr or 495gr with 65gr to 80gr of Triple Se7en.

Thanks guys! Thats the kind of imput I'm looking for. So a 45 would work ok for my purposes then? Are there any states that require a bigger caliber?
