A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

There are. Although I can't tell you any names offhand. A good place to start might be Track of the Wolf, they usually have a selection of modern custom muzzleloaders and some antiques too. Also you may find some leads on the Dixie Gunworks site.

Hopefully by summertime my .62 caliber english sporter (purdey style) will be ready for action.
Steve builds some of the most beautiful replicas of Germanic, British, and American rifles I've seen.
He also builds a mean modern central-fire magazine rifle!

Cheers
Tinker

I am listing three of the best Flintlock builders for period & style correctness. They are not cheap, but a lifetime investment.

I shoe for Johnny Walker, who was featured on the cover of American Rifleman a few years ago. His family has built muzzleloading rifles for several generations, and he carries on the tradition in fine style. He is located in southern WV and does outstanding work.

Steve Zihn is definitely one of the best, especially if you are looking for a German jaeger or a Golden Age Kentucky Rifle.
Then again I might be biased since I apprenticed under him.
