Omega vs X-7
The standard Omega has a 28" barrel, and the X-7 version has a 24" barrel.
How much difference do you think that 4" will make shooting 300 grain sabots with heavy loads of 777 or Blackhorn ?

If I wanted to shoot "heavy loads" I would opt for the longer barrel. With a load approaching 150gr. loose you will need the longer barrel to use all the powder before it blows out the barrel.

I had the x7 and enjoyed it.

I think next time if there is a next time I will get one made more for the shooter then the hunter. Longer Barrel, more readily available equipment for installing a scope, etc

Is there a problem mounting a scope on the X-7 ? I assumed it would be drilled and tapped the same as a regular Omega.

Mine was not drilled and tapped, and was disappointing...although it was accurate with the open sights.

The Knight Long Range Hunter looks like a fine Muzzleloader

I have the Omega stainless and laminated and love it. mine is a 45 cal and I shoot 150gr magnum loads and it performs well.

I thought about the X-7 for my son, thinking that it might save noticablw eight, but ended up getting him the 50 cal Omega stainless and laminated. His shoots very well too, though he isn't shooting 150gr loads.

I don't object to the 28" barrel and it is steady for shooting withthe weight out there. My son's is a bit lighter than mine since the barrel blanks are the same and his just has a bigger hole.

I've killed three deer with mine, my son has killed one. One realy nice eight point buck, a decent eight pointer, a nice seven pointer (my son's) and a doe. No complaints, two very happy Omega owners.
