209 Conversion kit?
Where is a good place to now try and find a 209 conversion kit for a Remington muzzle loader?

Thanks,

Sam

I did the Cabellas kit for a buddy. It was very simple. I do recall somthing about CCI primers creating dangerous pressure levels. Good luck.-Ben

Sam, The Cabelas kit is a good one.

Let me warn you before hand, 777 pellets don't work well in the Remington w/ the 209 kit.

I tried it several times but, it would hang fire or misfire every few shots.

Went back to Pyrodex pellets (4-30s for 120) and it fires like a rifle every time.

Good Luck

Thanks to everyone. I have decided to give the 209 set-up a try with the new Remington 209 primers designed for ML.

The RWS #11 caps with ff BP worked very well as this is one of the hottest #11s on the market. I just wanted to experiment with different combinations to see what I can achieve.

I have not had the blow back gumming problem with my bolt as I highly polished all of the internals and inner bolt body. I then coated everything with Brownells 'Action Magic'. When I finish at the range, I use the tool to take the bolt apart and simply wipe off anything that may be present. Works great.

Cheers,

Sam

Dracer,

I've heard some people say they will work w/ the Cabelas kit but, w/ the Remington Brand kit they don't work worth a hoot. We tried them and too much flame escapes the nipple on the Rem design. 777 pellets require a pretty warm ignition and the rem kit wouldn't allow it for us. One of my relatives has the Rem kit and when he tried 777 pellets he had a misfire on one of the biggest bucks he's seen in the woods. Needless to say he went back to Pyrodex.

The Cabela's nipple allows more fire from the primer to contact the pellets.

One thing we didn't try was the Magnum primers, they may have helped.

I just installed my kit from Cabalas. I use loose powder and have not had an issue with it yet. A friend has the Remington kit in his and gets a lot of blow back and the primers some times stick so he has to use the little pick Remington supplies with their kit.
He was even wondering if he could just buy the nipple out of a Cabals kit?
