Re: Priming the nipple?
Its a new rifle that i havent shot yet, but i read in a couple of muzzloading hunting books that it was a good practice to do to prevent misfires. I do have a t/c .32 cherokee cap lock which has never misfired but i also have only used it on the range in good weather. My .45 t/c hawkwn is a flintlock and i found after3 and sometimes 2 shots that the flint would chip enough so that there wasnt enough spark for the next shot. So i went out and bought a .50 cal cva cap lock that i want to try this year. It sounded like a good idea to me to fill the nipple with powder to lessen the chance of a misfire. Are there any disadvantages in doing this ? And if i do decide do you think i should use 4f powder?
