Mike MitchellHouse passes bill to rename the Gulf of Mexico
To the Gulf of America...and, as noted by republican Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska...."it just seems juvenile."
Well, only because it is. Embarrassingly stupid.
Another deeply meaningful legislative achievement by the republicans.

TumbleweedThis administration just has to compulsively steal stuff, even if it’s just the names of things.
How can it not be a criminal organization when it has a convicted felon as its head? It’s kind of like “House of Cards meets The Sopranos”

Thomas "Ty" BeahamSurprised they could take time out of their busy schedule naming post offices. (980 since 1967)
Speaking of priorities...
Congress Sees Flurry of Post Office Dedications Amid GridlockHard to believe these slackers get paid to hold our purse strings...

Dead right!
And it has been EXTREMELY successful!
Booked months in advance!
Unlike your FUCKWIT hero who has been bankrupt several times!
Just like his voters, mentally bankrupt!

SkylineAnd now he has decided to change the name of the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Arabia or Arabian Gulf.
Classic. Who knew he was actually the President of Earth, able to dictate to the rest of the globe. It is too bad there is not an ignore button for the pompous ass.

I expect the rest of the world will just ignore him and carry on calling things by their correct names.

crbutlerWhere was the outrage when Mt. McKinley became Denali?
When Ft Benning was renamed?
As I see it, if congress is spending its time doing this, it’s not making other stupid bills.
Saeed, what do you call the gulf you live next to? I doubt you use the English words “Persian gulf” but rather some term in Arabic that likely predates any English navigator getting there…

LHeym500Meanwhile the House cannot pass real legislation as budget bill stalls on life support.

Haven't had an approved budget since 2008 for the 2009 budget year

Mt. McKinley was always named Denali by those who lived around it. The name of a long-dead mediocre president from Ohio means nothing to them.
McKinley infected the mountain only because of white American colonialism, jingoism, and sense of cultural superiority. Congress corrected this admittedly minor injustice.

Does not excuse the failure now.

Yeah... repetitive failure of all past congress since 2008 should certainly be ignored when complaining about current, with the inference being this something new....
Sigh... allow me to rephrase. the established procedure, precedence, and presumption is that Congress cannot pass a budget. I am willing to be surprised

LHeym500Yeah, you can go look up how the GOP loons have harpooned their own budget bill.
The rest of the world will presumably keep selling maps with traditional names.
We might expect a steep tariff on them, especially for aircraft and ship navigation.

Glad my representative, a Republican, at least had the fortitude to not vote. Would have been prouder of him to vote no, but that is probably asking too much in the MAGA GOP. All the problems that we have and the House finds the time to waste on crap like this. Pitiful.

we'll be expecting the same level of scrutiny when the dems take back the house post-midterms

LHeym500I have already taken that position when the Dems held the gavel.
Unlike you, I have made suggestions on how to get a budget.
