Citation: American Automotive Policy Council President Matt Blunt

BREAKING: America’s “Big Three” automakers brutally burst the bubble on Donald Trump’s so-called “deal” with the United Kingdom, revealing it to be a total farce.

MAGA’a victory lap just fell flat on its face…

“The U.S. automotive industry is highly integrated with Canada and Mexico; the same is not true for the U.S. and UK,” American Automotive Policy Council President Matt Blunt stated.

The council represents Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis. The economic projections of these bedrock companies are suffering greatly under Trump, and that damage is ripping out to the work force as well as consumers.

GM alone projects $5 billion lost this year from the Trump tariffs.

“We are disappointed that the administration prioritized the UK ahead of our North American partners,” Blunt added.

Desperate for a win as the economy crumbles, Trump announced the alleged deal with much fanfare but also said that the 10% tariff on British imports will remain in place. He claimed that the UK will increase market access for American exports, but was short on details.

Currently, there is a 25% tariff on many goods from Canada and Mexico, which is what American automakers are actually worried about.

Blunt stated that Trump’s deal with the United Kingdom undermines the Agreement (USMCA), that Trump himself signed during his first term.

“Under this deal, it will now be cheaper to import a UK vehicle with very little U.S. content than a USMCA compliant vehicle from Mexico or Canada that is half American parts. This hurts American automakers, suppliers, and auto workers,” said Blunt.

“We hope this preferential access for UK vehicles over North American ones does not set a precedent for future negotiations with Asian and European competitors,” he added.
