Fired Epstein and Maxwell Prosecutor, Maurene Comey, just issued this following statement:

"Yesterday was unexpectedly my last day in the Office. I was summarily fired via memo from Main Justice that did not give a reason for my termination.

Every person lucky enough to work in this office constantly hears four words to describe our ethos: Without Fear or Favor. Do the right thing, the right way, for the right reasons without fear of retribution and without favor to the powerful.

For the majority of my nearly ten years in SDNY, the hard part seemed to be acting “without favor.” That is, making sure people with access, money, and power were not treated differently than anyone else; and making sure this office remained separate from politics and focused only on the facts and the law. Fear was never really conceivable. We don’t fear bad press; we have the luxury of exceptional security keeping us physically safe; and, so long as we did our work with integrity, we would get to keep serving the public in this office.

But we have entered a new phase where “without fear” may be the challenge. If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain. Do not let that happen. Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought. Instead of fear, let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power. Of commitment to seek justice for victims. Of dedication to truth above all else.

The reason she is being fired now is she sought to prosecute Epstein. That prosecution has caused President Trump political and personal embarrassment of his own making. That embarrassment is why she is fired. It is no way to run a government. Especially, no way to run the law enforcement subunit of government.

You know, that is what wannabe tyrants do if you want to talk about subjects and kings.

She secured the ethical conviction of Maxwell to serious time. Her job performance has been professional and successful.

Comey graduated from Harvard Law School. Worked at a very prestigious law firm. Clerked for a federal judge. Was hired to work as a federal ADA by the US DOJ in 2016.

She's got chops and credibility. She was fired because trump is a tiny little man who bully's the families of his enemies.

Trump has always dealt with negative press by simply saying it was fake news and there was nothing to it. This regardless of evidence. His followers have let him get away with it because they had to. Now, it seems like a large segment have finally come face to face with the fact that their hero has used them and lied to them. The flip-flop required of them in the case of the Epstein affair seems to be a maneuver many of them just can't manage.
Interestingly, Democrats have managed to go from a "nothing to see here" stance to a "we need to investigate. This is a fairly advanced gymnastic move too.
On the surface, Ms. Comey's firing seems to be politically motivated, and nothing else. In this regard, it may not be exactly the same as IBM lay-offs or Amazon lay-offs.
